Dwight D. Eisenhower, nicknamed "Ike", was meant for greatness. After finishing high school he attended and graduated from the United States Military Academy in West Point, New York. Following graduation he was commissioned as a second lieutenant and began to gradually rise through the ranks until he achieved the highest position in the army. He was a five-star general and played a critical role in World War II as the Supreme Commander of the Allied Forces in Europe. He successfully planned Operation Torch and the invasion of North Africa in 1942-1943 and the invasion of France and Germany in 1944-1945.

We named our Damascus steel dog tag in honor of Ike and the amazing life he led. Both as a general and as the President of our country. The dog tag is synonymous with the military and has become a badge of honor for our fighting men and women. While our Damascus dog tag won't replace the real thing, it is an awesome accessory. And let's be honest, who wouldn't want a dog tag made of Damascus steel? The "Ike" Damascus Steel Dog Tag is the perfect gift for the special someone in your life and with free engraving, you can add a great message. Handmade of 256 layers of 15n20 and 1095 steel, each dog tag has its own unique pattern. A stainless steel beaded chain finishes off the look of this unique dog tag.

FREE engraving is included with the "Ike" Damascus Steel Dog Tag.

History of the dog tag.

About 70 years before World War II, all the dogs in the (then) Prussian capital of Berlin were required to have "hundemarken", or tags that identified who they were and who they belonged to. The Prussian Army adopted the term for their military identification tags and right before World War II the Americans began to use the translation - "dog tags" - to refer to their own identification tags.

The first evidence we have of dog tags or something similar being used goes as far back as the ancient Spartans and Roman Legionaries, who carried lead disks in pouches around their necks called 'signaculum'.

American General George Meade was the first American to introduce a type of dog tag, when he had his men write their names and unit designation on a piece of paper. Aluminum tags were introduced in 1906 and became mandatory in 1913.

Care Instructions

1095 steel is a high-carbon steel and will rust if not dried and oiled after use. Hand wash only with soap and hot water. Dry completely before oiling.

Love this knife! Compact design, nice grip, feels comfortable in your hand--very sharp blade! As a side for the ladies--it fits in the smallest of bags. You won't be disappointed if you buy it!
