Alan Turing was born in London in June of 1912. He only lived until the age of 41 but in his short life contributed greatly to the technological advancements that we take for granted today. During the Second World War, Turing worked at Bletchley Park, the code breaking center for British Intelligence. He was assigned to work with a team of truly brilliant men tasked with breaking German codes that were creating using the virtually unbreakable Enigma machine.

Turing spent months working on the sequences, getting increasingly frustrated due to lack of resources. After appealing to Winston Churchill, the team was given everything they needed to expedite the code breaking process. Finally, thanks to Turing's brilliance and everyone's hard work, they broke the Enigma code and were able to help turn the tide of the war.

We named this gorgeous Damascus steel folder after Alan Turing. The subtle beauty of the wenge wood and sleek design felt like the kind of knife a British Intelligence officer would carry. At just over 3 inches, this handmade Damascus steel drop point blade is a great size for everyday carry. Large enough to have a good cutting surface, while small enough that it will easily fit in your pocket. The wenge wood has a unique ebony color that looks black or brown depending on the light. This knife comes with two brass thumb openers and has an ambidextrous design so it can be used by either a right-handed or left-handed person. The stainless steel liner has the liner-lock built in so it does not add any unnecessary thickness to the knife. This incredibly unique handmade Damascus steel folder will be a prized knife in your collection and great for an everyday knife.

Another beautiful knife

The weapon is feather light with a lovely wood handle. The action is so smooth I can flip it open by gravity. The blade takes a great edge.
This is the second knife I've purchased from Forseti, but it will not be the last.

Damascus Folding Knife

I collect artisan hunting and fishing knives and the Forseti Turing Folding Knife is another fabulous addition to my collection. I intend to look into their other products in the next few months. I cannot recommend their craftsmanship and quick delivery any higher having received this knife within 4 days in the heat of the current pandemic we are experiencing. It actually cheered me up. Should come in handy!

Sincerely,

A beautiful and functional knife! Locking mechanism, not so much.

I was extremely pleased on receiving my knife. This is my 3rd Forseti blade and I am quite happy with the blade and handle. The Damascus is tight and inclusion free, it came very sharp. I put it through several reasonable tests: cutting paper, boxes, whittling a wooden block, etc. passed with flying colors. It didn't lose much edge from the tests, but I resharpened it anyway, as I like my knives very sharp. It sharpened easily and has maintained sharpness through everyday carry and use for several weeks now. My only complaint (and this one is worth a star), is the locking mechanism is not as tight as I would like; the blade easily moves vertically about 1/32" and with a little force, moves horizontally about 1/64". This is fine for everyday cutting, but could be dangerous for life-threatening situations. This is a flaw I have found inherent in all knives with a flat metal thumb lever lock. I will continue to buy Forseti knives, but not their one-hand openers.

Why Forseti Steel?

Each Knife is Unique

All of our knives are made by hand and crafted one at a time. That is why no two knives are the same. The knife you receive will be similar to what you see on our site, but will be unique based on the natural materials used and individual craftsman that built the knife.

Testimonials

Beautiful, true Damascus steel knives. They set the table with elegance and class.

Love this knife! Compact design, nice grip, feels comfortable in your hand--very sharp blade! As a side for the ladies--it fits in the smallest of bags. You won't be disappointed if you buy it!
