Saladin had a single goal. To unite Egypt, Syria, Yemen, Palestine, and Mesopotamia under a single Muslim standard. This zealous goal was pursued with great diplomacy, but backed with intense military force if needed. Saladin is most famously known for his defeat of the Latin Crusaders and ending the war over the Kingdom of Jerusalem. When the city of Jerusalem surrendered to Saladin, he did not avenge the slaughter of Muslims in 1099, but showed mercy and allowed the Christians to leave the city. Although there were additional Crusades, most notably with Richard the Lion-Heart, Saladin was able to defend the territory. When the battle was finally over in 1192, Saladin returned to his capital in Damascus and died the following year.

We named this short Damascus steel scimitar after Saladin and honor his memory. The scimitar was a curved sword that was widespread throughout the Middle East. Our much smaller version is styled after the broad edged scimitar and comes with a beautiful rain drop Damascus steel pattern. Adorned with a solid brass bolster and end cap, the Saladin Damascus Steel Short Scimitar is elegant and refined. The rosewood handle and brass liners give the scimitar a classic look. You won't be disappointed with this incredible short scimitar.
