Thor's Hammer - Mjölnir - Solid Damascus Steel
Thor was the Norse god who guarded Asgard, the celestial stronghold of the Aesir, the main tribe of gods and goddesses in Norse mythology. The giants, the forces of chaos, were often trying to destroy Asgard and kill the Aesir, and it was Thor’s task to prevent them from doing so.
The hammer was his primary weapon. Thor was the spirit of the storm, and thunder was experienced as being the sound of his hammer crashing down on his foes. It should come as no surprise, therefore, that the Old Norse name for his hammer, Mjöllnir, “Lightning.” Legend has it that only Thor could lift the hammer “and if he threw it at anything, it would never miss, and never fly so far as not to return to his hand,” according to The Prose Edda.
While our Mjölnir may not give you superpowers, you will be the talk of Comic Con as you walk through the aisles with an incredibly unique piece of art. Made of nine Damascus steel billets, sandwiched together and placed in the flames to weld them together. The heft and weight of Thor’s Hammer will shock you. Weighing in at 13 pounds, most people would have a hard time wielding the hammer, let alone throwing it (which we do not recommend). As with the hammer's head, the handle is solid Damascus steel. The end of the handle unscrews to allow you to add a leather handle if you so you choose.
This is an incredibly unique piece of art, with very few being produced. Unique enough for that special person in your life who has to have Thor’s Hammer, or at least as close as you are going to come to the real Mjölnir.
