Epicure Damascus Steel 4.5" Petty Utility Knife - Walnut Handle
FS-1888
Regular price $79.99According to Merriam-Webster, the word epicure means; one with sensitive and discriminating tastes, especially in food or wine. We are all about good food and great wine, but the name actually comes from the ancient Greek philosopher Epicurus. Epicurus taught a philosophy of friendship, simple pleasures, and an uncomplicated lifestyle. The pursuit of pleasure was not about indulging all of the senses, but to find pleasure in the things that truly matter to you. We like this philosophy and try to live it to the best of our ability. That is why we named this Damascus steel petty knife after him.
The Epicure Damascus Steel Petty Utility Knife is an all around general-purpose knife that will become a mainstay in your kitchen. Petty knives are ideal for small work, such as peeling, slicing fruit and vegetables, or chopping herbs. Because of their smaller size, they are easier to maneuver and control. They are also fantastic for people who are uncomfortable with a full-sized chef knife. The compact size is much easier to learn with. We have added a rounded belly to our petty knife to make it easier to create a rocking motion while slicing. We also finished this knife with a gorgeous walnut handle which makes this knife as exquisite to look at as it is to use.

Care Instructions
1095 steel is a high-carbon steel and will rust if not dried and oiled after use. Do not put in dishwasher. Hand wash only with soap and hot water. Dry completely before oiling.
I have bought a lot of Forsetti knives and I love them. They are very high quality and are as advertised. They fit my hand well and perform well.
Very nice quality and beautiful knife.
This knife is beautiful. The Damascus is great with a very pronounced pattern. The fit of the handle and the handle material are wonderfully done. The problem I've run into is I saw this knife advertised in the same area as kitchen knives, so I took that to mean this knife was for the same purpose, which is being used regularly in an environment with liquids. We got it, cleaned it and put it into kitchen service because it's beautiful. Problem is, if this knife sits for any period of time with ANY liquid or condensation on it from food prep, it rusts. Quickly and badly, to the point the knife now has rust stains on it. Had I known this would be the case, or that the knife shouldn't be utilized around any sort of moisture, I would not have bought it. I would have bought one of their other knives (we already own a few and love them). The knife is great, but does not work well for it's intended purpose.
