Hector Handmade Damascus Steel Sub-Hilt Knife
MK-15
Regular price $124.99In Greek mythology, Hector was a Trojan prince and one of the greatest warriors in the Trojan War. Hector did not approve of the Trojan War but acted as leader of the Trojans in defense of Troy, killing 31,000 Greek soldiers. In the last battle, the Trojan army retreats behind the city walls, but Hector remains outside to face Achilles. During their battle, Hector realizes that he is doomed. Instead of surrendering, Hector pulls his sword and charges Achilles. It was a fierce battle with Achilles finally stabbing Hector through the chest, killing him.
Our handmade Damascus steel sub-hilt fighting knife needed a name that is as honorable as the knife is powerful. This is why we named it after Hector. When your index finger is pressed in the sub-hilt trigger, it gives you a lot of control over how you handle the blade. The sub-hilt allows you to strongly thrust the knife while hunting, and then you can use the trigger to easy pull the knife out. The sub-hilt also allows you to keep your grip on the handle during action instead of having the handle slip. The buffalo horn handle and chrome hilts give this knife an elegant look and feel. The 256 layers of Damascus steel and slightly upturned blade made this knife ideal for thrusting. This knife design and build quality will stand the test of time and will become an heirloom in your family.

Care Instructions
1095 steel is a high-carbon steel and will rust if not dried and oiled after use. Hand wash only with soap and hot water. Dry completely before oiling.
This is my second Hector subhilt. After gifting the first one to a family member, I quickly realized that I really wanted one for myself.....so I gifted myself! The Hector has a great feel when held and is perfectly balanced!
As per the blade itself, everything is on point. Fit & finish, grind lines, for the most part, fair out of box edge, (but they almost always need touching up, don't they.)
My grief is with the provided sheath. It failed within the first week, and I knew it would, immediately upon unboxing. I studied this knife for months, prior to my eventual purchase. A part of my decision to take the plunge, was based upon the descriptive, stock photos of the items, that were provided. I gave in to my want of this blade, partially because of the image of the sheath, with it's black leather, and heavy white stitching, as I do leather work, as a hobby. The photo resembled my hand stitch work.
I will just have to press my own Kydex sheath for this formidable blade, whis resists rust pretty well for Damascus. That will help keep it out of the moisture, anyway. I definitely recommend this blade, but just know that they might try to sneak a trashy sheath in on you, like you're a fool.
Attached are some photos of what I actually received, after one week of EDC.
Again, I emphasize that the knife itself was phenomenal, for the price point, but the sheath was bait-and-switch GARBAGE.
The Blade is great. But the handle and tang have some issues that hinder usability. One, there is a mismatch between the tang and the horn handle piece that exposes the edge of the tang in an unacceptable way. IE you could cut your hand on it. Two there is a row of burrs on the tang that you would cut yourself on if you tried to use the knife for anything but casual cutting.
The knives that I ordered where exactly as advertised I like them I will be ordering more in the future
