Jim Baker Handmade Damascus Steel Skinner Knife
MK-29
Regular price $124.99Jim Baker was a legend among mountain men. Friends with the like of Kit Carson and Jim Bridger, Baker was said to be brave and loyal to a fault. Baker also led a life of adventure. From battling with Native American Indians, to scouting for a railroad survey party in Salt Lake, to rescuing the daughter of a Shoshone chief. Jim Baker’s stories and adventures go on and on. This is the reason we have named this handmade Damascus steel skinner after him.
Don’t let the compact form of this knife fool you. Weighing in at 8 ounces, this is definitely a man's man knife. Full tang with just over a 4” blade, this knife has the perfect weight for a skinning knife and has been built for utility and function. The flat belly and skinner tip make this knife very easy to control and the large handle gives you plenty of leverage. A brass bolster with finger guard gives you plenty of control over the knife while protecting your fingers as well. We like to think that Jim Baker would be very pleased to have this knife named after him and would have loved to have this knife accompany him through his many adventures.
Made of 1095 and 15n20 steels, the high carbon content of 1095 gives this knife an extremely sharp and durable edge and makes it the ideal choice for a skinning knife. We also have a more compact skinner called the Colter with a Walnut Handle if the natural wood look appeals to you.

I make handmade knives and appreciate the artistry, especially with regards to the damascus steel. Everything about this knife and sheath is perfect. I highly recommend this company to anyone who is interested in serious knives.
Absolutely the perfectly balanced skinner that I own! It will be used regularly in my hunting trips that began last week.
I ordered these knives on a Sunday evening, Monday morning I received notification they had shipped. Tuesday afternoon they were delivered to Newfoundland, Canada. Amazing service!
Next the workmanship and quality are best in class. I honestly love these two skinning knives, top quality steel and a razor sharpe edge. I can wait to order again!
