Charles de Gaulle was a French statesman that provided indispensable leadership of Free France during the Second World War. When Germany invaded France in 1940, de Gaulle was a military leader who led assault after assault despite the impoverished state of his units. In June of that year, when the French government sought an armistice with Germany, de Gaulle evacuated to England to lead the French resistance from there. After the war de Gaulle helped France to recover, both politically and economically. He founded the Fifth Republic and helped to establish a strong presidency. He also rewrote the French Constitution and encouraged national independence.
We named this gorgeous Damascus steel folder with Damascus steel bolster and a brass liner after Charles de Gaulle. 1095 steel is a high-carbon steel and will rust if not dried and oiled after use. Hand wash only with soap and hot water. Dry completely before oiling.
