The karambit originated among the Minangkabau people of West Sumatra where it was inspired by the claws of a tiger. While the early karambits were used as tools, it was soon weaponized because the curved blade had so much cutting potential. Soldiers in Indonesia would carry a dagger, called a Kris, and a spear. The karambit was always used a weapon of last resort and close quarters combat. Today the karambit is a favorite among martial artists and tactical users.
Our Damascus steel karambit is full tang and made of 1095 and 15n20 steel. The high carbon content of 1095 gives this karambit an extremely sharp and durable edge. The exposed Damascus steel safety ring and blade jimping will give you plenty of control when using this knife. The safety ring helps prevent the knife from sliding in your hand and allows you to spin the karambit to change hand positions. The smooth, ergonomic tali wood handle finishes off the Tiger's Claw's look, resembling the skin of a tiger. The Tiger’s Claw Damascus Steel Karambit is the ideal choice for the discerning collector or tactical user who wants a hand crafted karambit that is unique in design and style. For another damscus steel karambit, we offer the Dragon's Claw.
