Part of the Cattle Kingdom of the 19th century, Denton County was the home to many famous cattle brands. Burk Burnett, whose legendary “Four Sixes” brand got his start in Denton, was one of the pioneers of the cattle industry. Other notable cattlemen from Denton included John Chisum and his famous “Jingle Bob” and “Long Rail” brands and Crow Wright with his “Chain 7” brand. These men helped shape the cattle industry which is still a large part of the Texas economy and culture.
